DC Decking & Construction, by Dalton Chobanian
A local, owner-operated deck builder — which is exactly why the finish holds up.
DC Decking & Construction is a Smithfield, NC deck builder led by Dalton Chobanian, a skilled craftsman with over six years of hands-on experience across a wide range of residential construction. When you get an estimate, you're talking to the person who will actually be standing in your backyard — not a salesperson passing you down a line.
Dalton's philosophy is simple: how something is built matters just as much as what is being built. That means precision, pride in the finish, and real respect for your property from the first walk-through to the last board — the kind of care that shows up in the framing you never see as much as the decking you do.
What are you picturing?
One builder. Every kind of outdoor build.
Deck, screened porch or a full outdoor living space — it's the same careful, code-built structure underneath. Tell Dalton how you want to use the backyard and he designs around that.
Selected work
Real decks and porches, built across the Triangle.

A deck and screened porch, built as one space
A stained wood deck stepping up into a screened porch, wrapped in black-metal balusters — the kind of connected outdoor living space designed around how a family actually uses the backyard.

A low-maintenance composite deck
Warm two-tone composite boards run clean along a fence line — long-lasting color and durability with no annual staining or sealing to keep up.

An elevated screened porch, finished underneath
An elevated screened porch with a horizontal-slat skirt closing off the space below — private, comfortable, and finished right down to the detail that most builders skip.

A raised deck off a brick ranch
A raised deck with black-metal balusters and a full staircase down to the yard, built off the back of a brick home — solid framing and clean lines on a real backyard.
What we build
From first walk-through to final board.
Deck Construction
Custom-built decks that expand your outdoor living space — designed for your yard and grade, not pulled off a template.
Composite Decking
Low-maintenance composite boards that hold their color and shrug off Carolina sun, rain and pollen — no staining or sealing.
Deck Repair & Replacement
We repair damaged boards, railings and structural components to restore safety and appearance — or rebuild from the ground up.
Screened Porches
Enjoy the outdoors without the bugs — a custom screened porch built for comfort, shade and relaxation.
Custom Outdoor Living Spaces
Transform your backyard with custom deck designs, lighting, seating and outdoor entertainment areas.
Railings, Stairs & Details
Wood, composite or black-metal railings, custom stairs and the small details that make a build feel finished.
What it's built from
The materials, named — because the spec is where corners get cut.
Custom pressure-treated & natural wood decks
For a warm, classic look at a friendly price, we build pressure-treated and natural-wood decks — detailed, fastened and framed to hold up to Carolina summers, storms and humidity for years.
Composite decking
Low-maintenance composite boards give you long-lasting color and durability with no annual staining or sealing — they resist fading, scratching and rot, so the deck looks close to day one for decades with little more than a rinse.
Screened porches & outdoor rooms
Custom screened porches keep the mosquitoes, pollen and afternoon storms out while the breeze comes through — built as a real room with roof, ceiling and clean screen systems.
Framing & footings built to code
Every deck and porch starts with the structure you don't see — proper footings, framing and spans built to the residential building code, because that's what decides whether a deck stays solid and level.
Railings, stairs & lighting
Wood, composite or black-metal balusters, custom stairs and integrated deck and step lighting — the details that make a backyard read as finished rather than assembled.
Repairs & full replacements
We repair damaged boards, railings and structural components to restore safety and appearance — or handle a full tear-down and rebuild when a deck has aged past repair.

Why homeowners call Dalton
An owner on the job — not a call center.
You talk to the builder
The person quoting your project is the person standing in your backyard building it. No salesperson, no handoff, no game of telephone.
Built to code, not to a template
Every deck is designed for your yard, grade and view — with proper footings, framing and spans built to the residential building code.
Recommended by neighbors
DC Decking shows a 100% recommendation rate on Facebook from early Triangle clients — the kind of word-of-mouth a new company earns one job at a time.
How a build runs
Four clear stages, from first call to the finished deck.
Consultation, custom design & estimate, permits & approvals, then construction and inspection. Dalton pulls the permits and runs the build as one managed job — so you always know what happens next and who's doing it.
